Hello There
We are Garrett and Georgette Ritchea, the husband and wife team that make up this little company called Ex Animo Photo + Video. The pic is from our big day a little over a year ago, and it’s one of our favorites. We know how much work goes into making your wedding day so special and that’s why we work hard to preserve every detail. Whether through motion or stills, our goal is to provide our couples with a lifetime of that special feeling that can only be experienced on a wedding day. We’ve been capturing weddings throughout California, and across the country for over 6 years and we never get tired of hearing from our couples about how much they love their content.
Ex animo is a Latin phrase which means “from the heart.” We thought it was a perfect name to express what we and our business are all about, doing everything in life with genuine sincerity. We know you have a lot of excellent options when it comes to hiring a photographer and/or videographer to shoot the biggest day of your life; so holding true to our name, we decided to create the images and films that come from our heart rather than chase the current trends. We like a little blur, we like unique color palettes, and we love framing our shots just a little tighter to capture the nuance in a subtle smile that screams being in love. Above all else, we want our images to feel authentic, we want our couple’s personalities to come through in their photos and film.
Our Process
We approach documenting a wedding a little different than other creative companies. First, we offer packages that included both photography and videography because we were overwhelmed with requests from couples to do so. This gives couples a consistent look across their content and, perhaps just as important, there are a few less camera people buzzing around on their big day. And because we offer both photo and video it allows us to do so something unique and crucial to our style, pulling still frames from our video footage. Imagine having access to 60 frames per second, as opposed to one or two. We can pull a frame at the peak of emotion, sometimes a micro second can make all the difference. It’s something we call “cinematic photography” and it gives us images that convey a sense of motion and authenticity. We still use high megapixel still cameras in addition to our video capture, so rest assured you’ll still have the ability to print large images to adorn your walls.
Now that we are done talking about boring old camera technique, we just want to say that the skill we are most proud of at Ex Animo is our ability to keep a calm, relaxing, and fun atmosphere during the wedding day. The truth is that your photographer will be spending as much, if not more, time with you on your big day than your fiancé; and we always do our best to make sure that everything goes smooth, that we keep up with the pace of the day, get the images you want, and give you plenty of time to enjoy your guests. We’d love the opportunity to set up a consultation to introduce ourselves and get to know you a little more, please click here to reach out, check availability, ask anything your heart desires.
